GENERAL MEETING

Spring Creek BBQ

From the New Prez….

Well, after completing my first month as president I want to thank everybody for making July such a successful month for our club!!! We had three visitations this past month and two club dances. We collected a lot of food, as well as cash donations, for the North Texas Food Bank at our Christmas in July dance on the 22nd. We had 37 guests in attendance at that dance, and 71 visitors at our July 8 dance. July also saw four new dancers join our club. Please extend a warm welcome to our newest members: Janice Schirmer, Patrick Walsh, Mamie Free, and Jim Davis. I would also like to thank Carol Purviance and Mary Hardin for volunteering to co-chair the Anniversary Dance Committee, and Mary Hardin and John Smith for agreeing to head up the Audit Committee. All of these gracious volunteers have made my job quite easy so far!

As busy as this past month was, August promises to be just about as full. For those of you interested in attending, the next NORTEX quarterly meeting will be on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2:00 p.m., at Swingtime Center, in Ft. Worth. We will also have a Solitaires general meeting on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 4:30. This will be held at Spring Creek BBQ @ 635 & Preston. We have two visitations scheduled for next month: Buttons & Bows on Aug. 19, and Circle I's Roundup Prelude dance, "Jazz in the Park," on Aug. 25. Both of these clubs dance at Senter Park East, in Irving, 228 Chamberlain. Barry Hendricks is calling for Buttons & Bows, with Melanie Seely on the rounds. Zack Owens will be the guest caller for Circle I, with Allan Heinrich on the rounds. We also have our regular club dances on Aug. 12 & 26. Ray Wheelington will be calling our next dance, with Bob Heath on the rounds, and we'll have Quiz and Bob at our second dance.

Everyone also please mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 16, when we will be traveling to the Log Cabin Swingers, in Tool,TX, to support our very own Charles Quisenberry, who will be calling that dance. Since this is over an hour drive for most people in the metroplex, we will be carpooling to this one. For anyone who is interested in riding together, we will be meeting at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Mesquite, at Oates & Gallaway. For more information, please contact Patsy Nester at 972-754-9770.

Once again, I want to thank everyone for pitching in while I've been working out of town for the past month. Great job everyone!

See you in a square,

Steve
